How a Bail Bond Works

Bail is a contractual agreement put in place to ensure a defendant will show up for his or her court date. At Help Bail Bonds, we guide you through the process of bailing out your family or friends by keeping you informed about your choices.

Cosigning Bail
Generally, we are contacted by friends or family of the defendant who would like to help their loved one get released from jail. In order to finance a bail bond, we need someone other than the defendant to cosign, which means that they will be liable for the defendant appearing in court. We check your employment history (among other things) before we process the bond. If you are cosigning for a larger bond—like a felony bond—we may also require real estate property as collateral.

What is the Charge?
At Help Bail Bonds, we charge a fee of 10% of the entire bond amount; the 10% fee is set by New Mexico State law. This fee is not refundable; it is our fee for posting the bond. We offer interest-free bi-monthly payment plans and can finance a bond on as little as 3% down!

Once the cosign paperwork has been completed and the fee (or 3% of the fee) has been paid, we notify the court via email that Help Bail Bonds will be posting bail. Once the court processes the paperwork, they notify us and we complete the paperwork with the court. Once that’s done, the courts notify the jail that bond has been posted and the release process begins. Our friendly bail securities agents will help you every step of the way!
